3 Reasons to travel while you're young

Friend shared this article with me.. so am shared here with u people=))) Read it, don't regret!

'The other night, I had a conversation with a young woman who had a number of decisions ahead of her, one of which was whether she should go to grad school or travel the world.

I told her to travel. Hands down. No excuse. Just go.

She sighed.

“Yeah, but…”

Never were more fatal words spoken.

Yeah, but… what about debt?
Yeah, but… what about my job?
Yeah, but… what about my boyfriend (or dog or car or whatever)?

“Yeah, but…” is pernicious. Because it makes it sound like we have the best of intentions when really we are just too scared to do what we should.

It allows us to be cowards, while sounding noble.

Most people I know who waited to travel the world never did. Conversely, plenty of people who waited for grad school or a steady job and traveled still did those things — eventually.

Be careful of the yeah-but. The yeah-but will kill your dreams.

I was so stirred by this conversation that I shared it with a group of about thirty young adults last night, many of which were asking these very questions.

The life you’ve always wanted

When you get older, life seems to just sort of happen to you. Your youth is a time of total empowerment.

You get to do what you want. As you mature and gain new responsibilities, you have to be very intentional about making sure you don’t lose sight of what’s important.

So if you still have a reasonable amount of control over your circumstances, you should do what really matters. Because life won’t always be just about you.

During early adulthood, your worldview is still being formed. It’s important to steward this time — to give yourself opportunities to grow. A good way to do that is to travel.

So, young person, travel.

Travel wide and far.
Travel boldly.
Travel with full abandon.

You will regret few risks you take, when it comes to this. I promise you.

There are three reasons to travel while you’re young:

1. Traveling teaches you to live an adventure

When you look back on your life, you will have moments of which you are proud and maybe a few you regret. It’s likely that the following won’t be on the latter list:

Bicycled across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Appeared on Italian TV.
Hiked a Mayan ruin.
Learned Spanish in three months.
Toured Europe by train.

They’re not on mine (fun fact: I’ve done all of the above).

What, then, will be?

Holding back.
Being afraid.
Making excuses.
Not taking more risks.
Waiting.

While you’re young, you should travel.

You should take the time to see the world and taste the fullness of life. It’s worth whatever investment or money or sacrifice of time required on your part.

It’s not about being a tourist. It’s about experiencing true risk and adventure so you don’t have to live in fear for the rest of your life.

2. Traveling helps you encounter compassion

In your youth, you will make choices that will define you. The disciplines you begin now will be with you for the rest of your life.

Traveling will change you like little else can. It will put you in places that will force you to care for issues that are bigger than you.

If you go to southeast Asia, you may encounter the slave trade. If eastern Europe, you may see the effects of genocide and religious persecution. If Haiti, you’ll witness the the ugly side Western paternalism.

Your heart will break.

You will begin to understand that the world is both a big and small place. You will have a new-found respect for the pain and suffering that over half of the world takes for granted on a daily basis. And you will feel more connected to your fellow human beings in a deep and lasting way.

You will learn to care.

3. Traveling allows you to get some culture

While you’re still young, you should get cultured. Get to know the world and the magnificent people that fill it.

There’s nothing quite like walking alongside the Coliseum or seeing Michelangelo’s David in person. I can describe the city of San Juan and its amazing beaches and historic sites to you, but you really have to see it for yourself to experience it. You can read all the books in the world about the Great Wall of China or The Louvre, but being there is a different story.

The world is a stunning place, full of outstanding works of art. See it.

Do this while you’re still young. Do not squander this time. You will never have it again.

You have a crucial opportunity to invest in the next season of your life now. Whatever you sow, you will eventually reap.

Please. For your sake, do this.

You won’t always be young. And life won’t always be just about you. So travel. Experience the world for all it’s worth. Become a person of culture, adventure, and compassion.

If your family's finacial problem is allow you to travel. Just go for it! Don't be scare!! Don't close yourself in you own's circle!! Step-out and you will realise how big is this world.. You will get a lot of benefits in your future! Don't regret for your rest of life =)

After reading the post, my plan to US finally have some little sparkling!! *blink blink*! I will go for it.. want to talk with my parents when I back Malaysia. Papa & mama, can you give me 1 year times before I start my dull working life! * Pray hard and finger cross *

Short update

Just realize that there is no proper entry blogged for quite some time due to the dull and boring daily routines I did throughout these day. Or I should blog about my New Zealand trip? Nope please, lazy much!

One more week to go before my short trip back to Malaysia. Actually I not allow to go back due to my final semester. Tones of works, documentation, design concept, 3D model, and etc are waiting for me to complete. But how can I absence during my sister's wedding right?? Important day for me and my family. So I decide to go back, put all the worry after! ! And, millions thanks to my sister and bro-in-law to bought me the air ticket!! I LOVE U BOTH :D
So, I have to finish up all the assessment due on the week I back to Malaysia before that!! Rushing rushing rushing! Tomorrow have to attend the "Saturday InDesign' exhibition throughout the Sydney. Oh ya, like finally I joined the Malaysian Society Club of UNSW. Hope to meet up new friends through the club =)

Well, I have tonnes of late post to be blog over here. I was busy struggling with my assessment and report this term! I have a urge to transfer back to Malaysia LOL * slap me slap me* But, I'm not gonna do that! C'mon~~ left 2 term to be complete =)

oh ladies, it has happened to all of us. The man always nag us about spending much on beauty products, am I right ? And, the moment that he says, " YOU ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD.I LOVE IT WHEN YOU DON'T WEAR MAKE-UP. I WANT TO BE WITH THE GIRL IN SWEATS AND NO MAKEUP FOREVER". But, what the hell was that?! Did your guy just check out another girl? And not just with his eyes, but did he just turn his head? And for the girl in the trendy outfit and full makeup? And is he really trying to play it off like I didn't see it? But, get caught by us!! hahaha

Quick question guys:
If you love us, your partner, with no makeup, but your head turns toward the girl who has spent four hours in the bathroom, what are we supposed to do? And the excuses kill me.

This afternoon (few hours ago), I went to glebe market in glebe street with Samantha and Xiong Ming ( Yh's bofie). Glebe market only open on saturday. These was my first time to go there. The market is something like our pasar malam but it's selling those second hand clothes, local designer's thingy and yummy food stall too. I was impressed by all the handmade accessories and rings. No photos, I'm too busy to looking all the nice and cute accessories. It's attractive me lol. Sorry!! Samantha bought two hoodie for only 10 bucks. I got nothing because it's can't try :( I'm worries it doesn't fix my size! And, I saw a vintage- camera bag. I didn't buy it but I'm regret now! I should bring it back home just now:( Is okay, I will grab it back next Saturday :D

Grrhh, sneak-out from class during break time! I was almost 'half-die' during the class. Flu+ fever+ headache... * go away please.. weekends coming*.. my friend said ' fa qiao ar ni, 1pm class, go back on 2.30pm' waste transport fees.. muahaha... yea, no choice!! Hello~ I'm safety land in the Kola-land on 5th Oct 8: 50pm ( aus time). Move into my small tiny room. It's really small * I swear* Everything is fine and perfect weather. But getting more n more freezing this few days. College was awesome compare to Msia campus and Singapore campus =) Staff and management is friendly enough and classmate is ... ?!* I got no idea* Okay, for those who want to laugh-out-loud. just do it. Yesh, only 3 student in my class!! I don't know how we going to have class like only 3 student =.= LMAO. And, I met new friends. She is a msian-Sheriane, came from KL. nice ppl and we chat non stop when we met.. * yippie* Class start on monday. nervous sial!

p/s : Sorry, I didn't upload any photo at here or FB. bcoz OZ internet connection got the limit.=( and need to pay more !! * I'm proud to streamyx or whatever line in msia* we can used unlimited access to download or surf net!!! That's why I have to take long time to upload picha.

今天，
一大早回了学院一趟！
熟悉的停车位，
亲切的 guard uncle,
小小的学院大厅，
吵闹的课室，

太幸福了。。
我好想再回到跟大家一起忙assignment 的日子

然后，
下午又回office做工了！！
一到公司。。
超感动的啦！！
我可爱的老板，拿了一封信给我。
当时的我几想在公司大喊和跳舞咯！！
我终于拿到我的第一份薪水了。。
虽然，不是很多钱。。
但是我自己第一次做工赚得钱。。
还蛮有满足感的。。

Melacca Trip

Late post again =.=
( Picha steal from Veronica fb yea.. so the size was too just too small )

Went to melacca for work + food + walk walk + meet friends..
Veronica was stay over night at my place before the day.. we wake up early around 9smth and go for breakfast before headed to melacca. Alright, it was my first time drive down to melacca with friend. Yesh, I'm the driver of the day =) We departed at 10.30am and reached melacca around 12pm (I know I'm just too slow)..

Then, I headed to meet the client at don't know the place call( coz veronica's was lead me to there) and met up with the client, hand up the document/sample material/schedule/and bla bla bla which given by boss. Once I finished, we was freaking hungry and I was like craving for chicken rice madly. so, veron brought me to the one famous chicken rice shop which we have to queue up to an hour =.=

Cool. I saw 'Uncle 5' tut tut car before reaching the chicken rice shop.. Nice one =)
I want to own myself one too

dessert was the best thing ever after a meal right?? haha.. we walk to a stall selling cendol ( a famous one also)
Not bad larh.. but I still prefer the original one. veron was order 1 original and 1 durian.. omg, I can't accepted durian mixed with cendol lol.. although I'm a durian lover yaikkkks

After lunch and a bowl of cendol.. headed to fetched the girls - hui ngee , ming see and siew teng out for lunch.. Ya lunch again =.= yesh, chicken rice again lol * fainted* hahaha

Was send ming see and siew teng back after lunch, because they were too tired after their nursing sport day at the morning. Ah ngee always the best one ♥ although she was very super duper tired. she still willing to companion me and veron =) we went to pahlawan shopping complex for a walk.. okay there was nothing to buy.. I don't like.. then, photo session started with the 'big boom' * landmark for the melacca huh?? * I was like fooling around as usual HAHAHAHA..

Then Jonker streets at night =) Si ham + dearest friends = perfect ♥

After Jonker, headed back to veron's bf hse to took a bath and prepared for dinner. Met the new friend- Mr Beh in da house..
Dinner at a nice place * forget the name larh* It was so crowd man.. 3 shop lot combine together.
food was yummy delicious. but the garden salad was like 'ee aiskkk' hahahah

the demaning girl hahahaha was complained about the 'momosa' which bought by her bf was cacat wakakaka so funny la..

Out of sudden

I was tired from work on this hour. I was only a 3 days trainee in the company. but I have to work like a bull.. Totally a cheap L-A-B-O-U-R. I cleaned the room. I arranged all the material in the library. I list down all the source's name ( magazine, booklets, boucher, catalog) in the library ( like total 1000+) . I represented to the famous architec fair--- Archidex in KLCC. I present the presentation to the boss and senior today. I type out all the supplier name list ( 300+) and printed it nicely. Now, I got a project from my boss which is design car showroom with full set of presentation layout. I have to complete it by this Thursday, the client will be come out and have to a small meeting. I'm tired but I'm happy too. I learned a lot of thing in these 3 days. All the things that I seriously can't learn it from college. I appreciate what I have now.

BUT,
I MISS MY COLLEGE LIFE

after check-in and settle down. We're get ready for our 1st snorkeling trip=) everyone was so excited!! especially the guys.. Okay, a nice snorkeling trip for some of us.. haha

I met a sweet pie when I was 5year old. She is younger than me 1 year. but she used to help me to tied my hair( act I kena force de.. haha) when I go to her house and play barbie doll together and all those 'ma-sak' together.. We ate nice food which cooked by sally ( fatty maid.. hahaha.. she's gonna kill me) .. we travel together with our family. Start Coast, Pasir Gudang ( Casino), A-famosa, Genting, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and alot of place. We became more and more close to each other when we grow up until now.

Now, she finished her A-level and going to AUS to further her studies. 3 more days!! she gotta depart from Msia to Aus. wth=.= she leave during CNY eve!! damn sad wey.. we can't have fun together during CNY. Can't be go out lateh, hang out, party, shopping together after 3 more months. I sound emo??? No, I am NOT!!!!!!! I'm happy to my bestie.. gonna meet her up tomorrow soon!! wait for my return.. miss u damn much.. hahaha..

I fetched the girl at ampang park after her class. We headed to Pavilion for our 1st time outing in KL..haha.. It's totally fun and happy outing with the bestie. We shoped from shirt-skirt-blouse-jeans-pants-shoes-bags-wallet-accesorries! ( I told yenting, I have to buy somethings if not I don't feel like going back) haha.. I try and try a lot of clothes that I like it but end up with too big in size!! It's XS already man.. I'm so damn fucking hate my body size!! (I want to gain weight.. Any plans?? ) At last, both of us bought something from nichii!! yeahooo~ so great I got myself something. It's a dress.. haha..

End our day-out around 5.30pm.. I'm rushing back to titiwangsa from town to fetch my sisters and drop the girl to lrt station (she's going back to BP after that)..
